Five Killed, Two Injured In Niger Trailer Accident

FRSC Towing Truck Accident

At least five people have reportedly died and two others sustained serious injuries in a trailer accident along the Lambata-Suleja Road in Niger State.

Naijaonpoint understands that the fatal accident occurred on Tuesday morning near the Izom Bridge in Gurara Local Government Area.

Witnesses who spoke to Daily Trust confirmed that the trailer, which was loaded with goods and had departed Lagos en route to one of the northern states, crashed while attempting to dodge potholes on a bad stretch of road close to the bridge.

A resident of Lambata, Adamu Umar, told journalists that the poor state of the road contributed to the accident.

The crash happened less than a week after a similar accident on the same road claimed 22 lives and left 20 others injured, raising concerns about the safety of the Lambata–Suleja corridor for motorists and heavy-duty vehicles.

The Niger State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Aishatu Sa’adu, confirmed the crash in a statement to reporters.

She said rescue efforts were carried out promptly and that the injured victims were taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

Authorities have advised motorists to exercise extreme caution on the route, citing the deteriorating condition of the road as a recurring hazard.
