A private jet operated by Flybird Airlines crash‑landed at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) on Sunday morning, sending shockwaves through the aviation community.
The aircraft, carrying 11 passengers including three crew members, arrived from Abuja when it reportedly crash‑landed at about 9:30 a.m., eyewitnesses told the Independent.
Eyewitness accounts described tense moments at the airport as passengers were quickly evacuated from the aircraft following the crash‑landing.
Despite the dramatic nature of the incident, there were no immediate reports of injuries or casualties among those on board.
Airport authorities were said to have swiftly secured the area after the crash‑landing. Emergency response teams were immediately deployed to ensure the safety of passengers and personnel and to begin investigations into the cause of the incident.
The management of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is yet to release an official statement on the incident.
This comes days after a Nigerian Air Force jet crashed near Karabonde, in the Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, with both pilots surviving the incident.
The crash was first reported by a Niger State-based online digital television network, Lapai TV, which posted the news on its official Facebook account on Saturday evening.
