Forgiveness is not memory loss – Apostle Suleman reacts as actress Halima Abubakar apologizes

Apostle Johnson Suleman of the Omega Fire Ministries International has reacted to Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar’s public apology.

NaijaOnPoint.com.ng (NOP) reports that the actress in a letter shared on social media pleaded with the cleric to forgive her for her past statements, admitting they were “false and hurtful”.

The actress expressed remorse for the pain and distress her allegations caused the Apostle and his family.

The movie star said she “was not thinking right then” and added that the apology is prompted by “deep reflections and conscience”.

I ask you to find a place in your heart to forgive me as I was not thinking right then. Sir, you have done a lot for humanity, extend your hands of forgiveness to me,” she said on Instagram.

Reacting, theclergyman via the microblogging platform, X formerly Twitter requested no further intermediation, emphasizing forgiveness does not erase memories. 

“You all stop calling my phone. Forgiveness is not memory loss! Status quo maintained,” he wrote on X.

The drama between Abubakar and Apostle Suleman started in 2022 when the actress became sick following her altercation with the clergyman.

The actress, for several months, accused the controversial cleric of failing in his promise to marry her. She alleged he afflicted her with an undisclosed life-threatening ailment that plagued her for years.

Apostle Suleman eventually sued Halima for N1bn for defamation, seeking compensation for the harm done to his reputation and ministry after several warnings in January 2023.

The actress’ apology came after the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), on October 18, 2024, suspended her indefinitely for being “behind all the slandering information of our members, associates and patrons, especially news of extramarital affairs linked with highly placed individuals in the society emanating from the industry.”
