In a stirring message filled with deep admiration and patriotic pride, former Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman (rtd), has commended officers and men of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) for their resilience, professionalism, and outstanding success in recent counterinsurgency operations across the North East.
Usman, in a statement personally signed on Friday in Abuja, praised the Theatre Commander, General Officers Commanding, Brigade and Component Commanders, and all troops deployed under the operation for “their efforts and sacrifices in thwarting and crushing multiple Boko Haram terrorists’ attacks across the theatre, specifically in Dikwa, Mafa, Gajibo and Katarko.”
He noted that the coordinated assaults launched by terrorists on troops’ positions were met with “decisive and offensive response by ground forces, supported by the air platforms of the Air Component Command, which used their overwhelming and lethal force to neutralize a sizable number of terrorists and recover assorted arms, ammunition, and equipment.”
“The extraordinary and unprecedented feat and triumph is a glowing reflection of the exemplary and visionary leadership of the Theatre Commander and all the echelons of command.
“Your courage, foresight, and total commitment — exemplified by leading from the most perilous frontlines — have inspired the troops with unshakeable confidence and reignited their fighting spirit,” he said.
The retired General expressed personal pride in the troops’ accomplishments, describing the operation as a national inspiration and a symbol of Nigeria’s enduring spirit.
“Your selfless sacrifices, patriotism and courage have once again proven that Nigeria’s strength lies in the valour of our gallant military and security forces.
“You have shown, through these efforts, that the spirit of the Nigerian soldier is indomitable. I urge you to sustain this victorious momentum, remain vigilant and continue to dominate the battle space until enduring peace and stability are permanently restored to the North East and beyond,” he stated.
Usman also paid glowing tribute to fallen heroes who, in his words, “paid the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.” He extended heartfelt condolences to the Theatre Command and families of the deceased, praying for the peaceful repose of their souls and speedy recovery of those wounded in action.
“Their bravery and devotion to our beloved country shall never be forgotten. They have given their all so that others may live in peace and freedom,” he said.
He further called on host communities to sustain their cooperation and trust in the troops, noting that the fight against terrorism is not for soldiers alone.
“These gallant sons and daughters of our great nation are fighting not merely for land, but for our safety, honour and way of life. Support them wholeheartedly with information, encouragement, cooperation and prayers,” he appealed.
The retired Army spokesman also urged all tiers of government to intensify support for the Armed Forces by providing superior equipment, improved welfare and adequate logistics to sustain the momentum of recent victories.
“The sacrifices of our brave men and women in uniform demand nothing less than the full weight of the nation’s commitment and gratitude,” Usman stressed.
He concluded by urging the nation to continue celebrating the troops’ courage and professionalism:
“Our gallant troops’ latest triumph is more than a military victory; it is a national inspiration. The Armed Forces of Nigeria deserve the highest honour for their dedication, patriotism, and selfless service in defending our sovereignty. Magnificently well done, gallant heroes, onward to ultimate and total victory for our cherished nation!”
