Former Immigration comptroller dies at 58 in Oyo state

Dada Joseph Olutayo, Assistant Comptroller General of immigration and former Oyo State Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), is dead.

According to a statement issued by Joshua Dada on behalf of the family, Olutayo died on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, Oyo state, after a brief illness.

He was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Comptroller General and served in various capacities within the service until his death.

Part of the statement read: “The family of Michael Dada Ogunremi of Ilesa, Osun state, announces with sorrow but gratitude to God the passing unto glory of Mr Dada Joseph Olutayo (ACGI) after a brief illness.

“He was aged 58. He died at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, on Sunday, August 10, 2025. He was a former Oyo state comptroller of immigration service and was recently promoted to assistant comptroller general by the immigration service.”

Olutayo is survived by his wife, children, and other family members.
The family said burial arrangements will be announced later.
