Former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) of misleading Nigerians with propaganda and deception instead of addressing the country’s challenges.

Lamido, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), expressed his concerns during an interview on the BBC Hausa program, Gane Mini Hanya.

He argued that Tinubu’s administration, like that of his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, has failed to uphold transparency in governance.

“Buhari’s and Tinubu’s governments are not being transparent with Nigerians, unlike during the PDP era when everything was open and clear for the people,” Lamido said.

“With the arrival of Buhari, deception and propaganda became the tools for running the government,” he added.

Lamido also criticized Tinubu’s financial policies, particularly his handling of loans and budget allocations. He questioned how the government could present a budget that allegedly projects a surplus yet continues to request loans.

“If Nigerians were being told the truth, there would be no issue, but how do you budget ₦30 trillion, project ₦50 trillion in revenue, and then request loans despite having a supposed ₦20 trillion surplus?” he asked.

The former governor lamented the state of governance under the APC, accusing its leaders of recklessness and selfishness.

“This kind of recklessness is unheard of in any serious country. Yet, you still find some Nigerians supporting it. On social media, APC is referred to as a calamity, but you see people defending it,” he stated.
