Former Kenyan PM Raila Odinga Dies After Cardiac Arrest in India

A former Prime Minister of Kenya, Mr Raila Odinga, has died at a hospital in India after he reportedly collapsed.

The 80-year-old opposition leader was said to have been rushed to Devamatha Hospital in India after he fell during a morning walk in the Asian nation.

He was said to have suffered a cardiac arrest, according to reports. Efforts were made by medical practitioners to revive him but he was declared dead by the doctors when he did not respond to treatment.

According to spokesperson for Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Eye Hospital and Research Centre in Kerala, the former Kenyan leader “experienced some breathing difficulties and collapsed. He was provided CPR on the spot and having seen some sign of recovery, he was rushed to the nearest modern hospital. Despite repeated efforts by the medicos, his condition deteriorated and the doctors were unable to save him.”
