Former One Direction Star Liam Payne Dies At 31

British singer known globally as a former member of the boyband One Direction, Liam Payne, has died at the age of 31.

Authorities in Buenos Aires confirmed that Payne passed away after an accidental fall from the third floor of a hotel in the city.

According to Buenos Aires police, the incident took place on Wednesday at a hotel located on Costa Rica Street in the Palermo neighborhood.

Officers from the 14B Police Station were dispatched to the scene following a distress call reporting a disruptive man suspected of being under the influence.

The police statement did not specify the individual as Payne, but later reports confirmed his identity.

Payne was recently spotted in Argentina, where he attended a concert by Niall Horan, his former One Direction bandmate, on October 2. Videos shared on social media captured moments from the event, showing Payne enjoying the show.

Just days prior, Payne had celebrated his 31st birthday in the UK. Originally from Wolverhampton in England’s West Midlands, Payne was the youngest of three siblings.

He pursued his love of music early on, studying music technology at the City of Wolverhampton College.

One Direction, the iconic British boyband Payne was a part of, formed in 2010 after he and other members—Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Horan—competed on the UK reality show “The X Factor.”
