Four Injured As Truck Conveying Onions Triggers IED Explosion In Borno

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) reportedly detonated in Lingir Village, Guzamala Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno State, injuring four persons and significantly damaging a truck conveying bags of onions.

​The incident, suspected to have been orchestrated by ISWAP terrorists, occurred at approximately 1030 hours as the commercial truck was traveling from Baga Village, Kukawa LGA, en route to Maiduguri.

​The four persons injured in the blast, all residents of Maiduguri, were identified as: Umar Isah (25, Driver), Suleiman Isa (22, Passenger), ​Ibrahim Bala (25, Passenger) and Umar Hassan (22, Passenger).

​The truck, with registration number XA 504 GSH Yobe, was significantly damaged by the explosion.

According to Zagazola Makama, troops of Operation HADIN KAI and other security teams promptly responded to the scene, cordoning off the area and searching for additional devices. No further explosives were found.

​The injured were initially evacuated to the General Hospital in Monguno and have since been referred to the State Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri, where they are currently hospitalized and said to be responding to treatment.
