WATCH THE VIDEO HERE A heartbreaking incident has unfolded in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, where four siblings tragically lost their lives in the early hours of 6th May 2025, following what authorities suspect to be a case of food poisoning. According to the Anambra State Police Command, officers from the Ogidi Division promptly responded to reports of the incident. The bodies of the deceased children have been recovered and are currently at the morgue, pending autopsy. Meanwhile, their mother, who also consumed the same meal, is in critical condition and receiving intensive medical care at a local hospital. SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the Police Public Relations Officer, stated, “This is a deeply saddening incident that has shocked the community. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and wish the mother a swift recovery, as her insights will be crucial in understanding what transpired. “In an effort to uncover the truth, police have collected samples of the suspected food for forensic analysis. Officers are actively interviewing residents and potential witnesses to gather additional information that may assist in the ongoing investigation.” Ikenga added that “the Commissioner of Police for Anambra State also expressed profound sorrow over the incident and we are committed to a thorough investigation and will leave no stone unturned to determine the facts surrounding this tragic event.” The Anambra State Police Command went further to assure the public that updates will be provided as the investigation progresses. The community remains in shock as they mourn the loss of the young siblings.
