Freakier Friday has announced its Disney+ release date. The sequel to Freaky Friday (2003) reunites Anna Coleman (Lindsay Lohan) and her mother, Tess Coleman, (Jamie Lee Curtis) 22 years after their bodies were swapped. This time, they are involved in a four-way body swap involving Anna’s daughter, Harper (Julia Butters), and Anna’s soon-to-be stepdaughter, Lily Reyes (Sophia Hammons).

Reviews for Freakier Friday were largely positive, with many critics praising the comedy, the heartfelt story, and how seamlessly Lohan and Curtis reprise their roles. Following the sequel’s August 8 theatrical debut, it grossed $153 million worldwide, and it has been available to watch for digital purchase or rental on select platforms since October 7.

Now, Disney has announced that Freakier Friday is coming to Disney+ on November 12. A new trailer was also released to celebrate the movie’s Disney+ premiere. It includes critical praise, highlights that the film has a “Certified Fresh” critical score and “Verified Hot” audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and encourages audiences to watch the movie with one’s mother or daughter. Check out the trailer below:

With the November 12 debut, Freakier Friday joins its many predecessors that are already available to stream on Disney+. In addition to the 2003 version starring Lohan and Curtis, subscribers can also watch the 1970s Freaky Friday starring Jodie Foster and Disney Channel’s 2018 Freaky Friday musical on the streaming platform.

Along with Lohan and Curtis, Freakier Friday‘s cast features the return of Mark Harmon as Tess’ husband Ryan Volvo, Chad Michael Murray as Anna’s ex-boyfriend Jake Austin, Ryan Malgarini as Anna’s brother Jake Coleman, and several other characters from the 2003 movie. The Good Place and Star Wars: The Acolyte star Manny Jacinto joins the sequel as Lily’s father, Eric Reyes, and he becomes engaged to Anna.

While there are no announced plans for the story to continue with Freaky Friday 3, if the 2025 movie performs well on Disney+, it will make the chances of a third movie happening more likely. Freakier Friday‘s director, Nisha Ganatra, already teased the possibility of a six-way body swap, which this time would include Murray’s Jake and Jacinto’s Eric and take the trilogy to new and hilarious heights.

Regardless of whether a third movie happens, Freakier Friday is likely to become a streaming hit for Disney+. As a PG-rated movie, children, adults, and whole families can watch it, with a story that has both nostalgic and modern appeal.
