The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has said that allowing personnel to carry arms would enhance their effectiveness on the roads.

Mohammed made the remarks on Thursday during an interview, explaining the challenges faced by FRSC teams.

“It is difficult for the FRSC to stop a trailer or truck on the road, especially those carrying numerous passengers or animals on top, and sometimes our team has only four men,” he said.

He added, “Carrying arms will support the personnel to stop trailers with many passengers.

“Power is cohesion. If you don’t have the power to enforce anything, there’s no way you can achieve that enforcement.”

On the issue of bribery within the corps, the Corps Marshal said, “It’s a matter of time. It will be nipped in the bud.”
