The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Malam Shehu Mohammed, has congratulated the Comptroller General, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi on his emergence as Chairperson of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) Council.
This is contained in a statement by the corps Public Education Officer (CPEO), Olusegun Ogungbemide, on Monday in Abuja.
Mohammed eulogised the NCS CG’s appointment describing it as a clear recognition of his dedication, visionary leadership and passion for excellence which had re-positioned the Service as a model of professionalism and efficiency in Africa.
According to him, the emergence of CG Adewale Adeniyi as chairperson of the WCO council is not only a personal accomplishment but a national pride.
“It reflects Nigeria’s competence and the confidence the international community reposes in our capacity to contribute meaningfully to global governance in trade and customs management.”
In a related development, he also congratulated Nigeria as well as the FRSC for winning the elections to become the Permanent Secretariat of Africa Association of all Road Safety Lead Agencies (AARSLA).
The corps marshal described the outstanding achievements as another evidence of Nigeria’s growing influence on the global stage particularly in customs administration, road safety management, traffic administration and trade facilitation.
He revealed that the emergence of the FRSC as permanent secretariat of AARSLA was strategic and would enable the corps to coordinate road safety initiatives across the African continent.
He added that it would also promote best practices, and foster partnerships that would help achieve the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety targets.
“The dual victories of these two prominent Nigerian institutions which are the NCS and the FRSC highlight the country’s growing leadership role in both global trade facilitation and continental road safety management.
“These developments signal new opportunities for collaboration, capacity building and shared progress for Nigeria- Africa and the international community at large,” he said.
The FRSC boss appreciated the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Tinubu for creating an enabling environment for the agencies to thrive through strategic support and commitment to the realisation of their mandates.
Mohammed reiterated that the corps would remain resolute in strengthening ties with sister agencies like the NCS with a view to building a safer, more prosperous nation. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
