The Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, amidst rising political tension in the state, has declared that the state will not be plunged into another round of political crisis, affirming his reliance on spiritual strength rather than force.
The governor gave the assurance in his New Year message shortly after attending the crossover service at the Government House Chapel of Everlasting Grace in Port Harcourt.
Governor Fubara expressed optimism that 2026 would bring better fortunes for the state and its residents, stressing that his administration is stepping into the new year with “renewed strength and confidence.”
Reflecting on his administration’s performance over the past two years, he acknowledged the challenges but emphasised a hopeful outlook.
“Those who place their trust in God would not be put to shame,” Fubara said, stressing that his faith, not “the instruments of war”, remains his guiding strength.
The governor urged the people of Rivers State to remain calm and ignore unsettling reports suggesting political unrest, stating that his government remains focused on the state’s development.
“Governance anchored on faith, perseverance and service to the people” remains his commitment, he reiterated.
He also admitted that not all expectations had been met over the last two years, but assured residents that 2026 would mark a period of growth and transformation.
Governor Fubara also expressed confidence in Nigeria’s leadership, predicting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential election.
