The Lagos State Government has declared Adron Homes, Elerangbe; Anchor Homes, Elephane; Lekki County Homes; Urban Shelter, Isimi Eko and 171 other estates across the state as illegal.
Other affected projects include: Paragon Terraces, Abraham Adesanya, Ajah; Prime Water View Estate, Lekki Phase I; Westwood Park Estate, Phase I; London Park Phase II, Eleko; Aina Gold Estate, Okun-Folu; Diamond Estate, Eputu; Prime Water View Garden, Ikate Elegushi; and Royal View Estate, Ikota.
Havilah Villas – Orchid Road, Lekki; Urban Shelter Estate, Ibeju-Lekki; Westwood Park Estate, Phase I, Ajah; Beach Front Garden, Akodo; Cedarwood Boulevard Estate, Okun-Ajah; Courtland Villas, Sangotedo; Shelter Estate, Eleko; and Delight Estate and Resort, Off Epe-Itoikin Road were also listed.
The news has sent shockwaves and panic among subscribers.
In a statement released on Monday by Oluwole Sotire, Permanent Secretary of the Office of Physical Planning, the government said the affected housing projects, many of which are situated in Eti-Osa, Ajah, Ibeju-Lekki, and Epe, were established without the necessary approvals.
Sotire noted that developers have been given a 21-day ultimatum to process their layout approvals or face the sealing of their estates.”
The statement added that these developers have undermined the principles of sustainable development and contravened the T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda of the Lagos State Government by operating without approved layouts.”
He noted that the enforcement action is not just a routine exercise, but part of the ministry’s statutory duty to regulate both public and private estate development through proper layout approval processes, in order to build a resilient and smart city.
He further stressed the necessity for all developers and real estate practitioners to register with the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (LASRERA), the official body tasked with regulating, coordinating, and monitoring real estate activities in the state.
