FULL LIST: Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman, three other Nigerians shine in EA SPORTS FC Team of the Year list

Super Eagles and Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman has begun the year on a high note, securing a nomination for the coveted EA SPORTS FC Team of the Year in the attacking category, Soccernet.ng reports.

The prestigious award, celebrated globally, is unique for being entirely fan-voted, allowing football enthusiasts to determine the year’s standout performers.

Lookman’s stellar performances in Serie A earned him a spot on the shortlist, alongside elite attackers such as Lautaro Martínez, Dusan Vlahović, Christian Pulisic, Marcus Thuram, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Artem Dovbyk.

He will also face competition from Premier League stars including Erling Haaland, Bukayo Saka, Mohamed Salah, Phil Foden, Ollie Watkins, and Heung-Min Son.

The Atalanta forward was named the Africa Player of the Year in December.

The recognition is not limited to Lookman, as Nigerian football is strongly represented.

In the women’s category, three Super Falcons players — Asisat Oshoala, Chiamaka Nnadozie, and Rasheedat Ajibade — have also been nominated.

Oshoala, a four-time African Player of the Year (POTY), Nnadozie, Africa’s best goalkeeper in 2023 and 2024, and Ajibade, the Super Falcons captain and Atletico Madrid star, show Nigeria’s dominance on the global stage.

The TOTY list features an array of global talent from leagues such as Ligue 1, Bundesliga, and La Liga.

Nominees include the likes of Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Kane, and rising stars like Lamine Yamal and Florian Wirtz.

The fan vote extends to players across all positions, ensuring a comprehensive celebration of the best in football.

Fans eager to cast their votes can visit the EA SPORTS FC official website before the January 12 deadline.

Voting closes at 8:59 a.m. on January 13, 2025, with the final TOTY squads set to be unveiled in EA SPORTS FC 25 from January 15.

The TOTY lineup will also feature in EA SPORTS FC Mobile from January 21, offering fans an immersive gaming experience.
