A lecturer at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) has come under fire after destroying a student’s architectural model during a jury session, accusing the student of outsourcing the project.
In a video that has since gone viral, the lecturer is seen using a stick to smash the model, which many viewers online described as impressive for its detailed design and craftsmanship.

The footage, which has garnered over 160,000 views, has sparked widespread outrage and calls for disciplinary action.
Students and members of the public have condemned the lecturer’s conduct, labeling it unprofessional and psychologically harmful.
The incident has also reignited conversations about Nigeria’s architecture education system, particularly the culture of harsh jury assessments, frequent accusations of academic dishonesty, and the high financial burden students face in producing physical models.
