WATCH THE VIDEO HERE Organizers of Fyre Festival 2 have announced that the event has been “postponed,” but have yet to announce the new dates. Fyre Fest 2 was scheduled to take place in Mexico from May 30 to June 2, with tickets ranging from $1,400 to $1 million. “The event has been postponed and a new date will be announced. We have issued you a refund. Once the new date is announced, at that time, you can repurchase if it works for your schedule,” a statement from the organizers reads. Ticketgoers were uncertain about the festival’s future just weeks ago, after the Playa Del Carmen government claimed that the festival would not be taking place and that the only permit purchased was for a venue that could hold 250 people.
Billy McFarland, the festival’s founder, then issued a statement insisting that the festival would still be going ahead. McFarland was convicted of wire fraud in connection with the failed 2017 festival and was sentenced to six years in prison and ordered to pay back $26 million for defrauding investors and attendees.
