Samsung has been pretty busy with updates over the past few weeks. The company is not only developing One UI 7 for a future rollout on smartphones and tablets but also the next big One UI update for Galaxy smartwatches. Samsung already shipped One UI 6 Watch, based on Wear OS 5, to the Galaxy Watch 6, Galaxy Watch 5, and Galaxy Watch FE, and now it’s the turn of the older Galaxy Watch 4 lineup.

One UI 6 Watch, based on Wear OS 5, is reaching the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic

Owners of the Galaxy Watch 4 series have been eagerly awaiting the update. Samsung had promised that they would receive it by the end of November, but that didn’t happen—at least in the US. Fortunately, it seems the wait is over, as Samsung has published the official One UI 6 Watch changelog for the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. The company hasn’t done the same for the base Galaxy Watch 4, but it shouldn’t take long.

The Wear OS 5 update, camouflaged under the One UI 6 Watch skin, has the build numbers R880XXU1IXK1 or R890XXU1IXK1 for the SM-R880 and SMR890 Galaxy Watch 4 Classic models, respectively. The update changelog is quite extensive, but highlights the new watch faces, improved UI, new health functions, deeper sleep analysis, new pinching gesture controls, and AI integration, among others.

The update includes the AI energy score feature

One UI 6 Watch brings the AI-powered energy score feature to the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. This feature tracks your physical activity and sleep to give you a quick summary of your current physical and mental condition. You’ll also receive insights and motivational tips via Galaxy AI to keep you inspired. AI will also be present in suggested responses to messages. That is, the watch will be able to automatically generate responses according to the context of messages you receive.

Other improvements and new features include calendar event management, automatic connection to Bluetooth audio devices, automatic power-on after charging, and longer battery life.
