Samsung is rolling out a new One UI 6.1-based update to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. It is a smaller package than the original build released last week. The update likely brings some bug fixes. The foldables still aren’t getting the May security patch.

Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 receive a new One UI 6.1-based update

Last week, Samsung released the One UI 6.1 update for its 2021 and 2022 flagships. The Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 3 all received the big, Android 14-based feature update. However, along with the new features and improvements, the new One UI version also seemingly introduced some bugs to the devices.

The Galaxy S22 series, in particular, was the most affected. Several users reported problems with booting or unlocking the phone after a restart. The issues were big enough for Samsung to take the update off the air. It later acknowledged the problem and released another build for the devices. It appears the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 are also getting a similar bug-fixing update.

Currently available in South Korea, the only market where these devices have received One UI 6.1, the 2022 foldables are picking up the latest release with the firmware build numbers F936NKSU2FXE3 and F721NKSU2FXE3, respectively. The update weighs in at 360MB for the Fold model. The official changelog doesn’t disclose much, so we can’t specify the bugs that may have been fixed with this update.

If you have updated your Galaxy Z Fold 4 or Galaxy Z Flip 4 to One UI 6.1 and are having some functional issues, the latest release may fix those. Make sure to check after installing it. Users in other regions may get a new build with the issues patched. Samsung hasn’t revealed when One UI 6.1 will reach its 2022 and 2021 flagships in global markets. We will keep an eye on it and let you know when the rollout begins.

The May security patch is on the way

Samsung recently started pushing the May 2024 security patch to the Galaxy S24 series. The rollout began in the US and quickly expanded to Europe. It could go global over the next few days. The company will also cover more eligible Galaxy smartphones and tablets with the latest security patch in the coming days. The aforementioned devices might get the May patch bundled with One UI 6.1 in some regions.
