Galaxy Z Fold 4 & Flip 4 receive October 2024 security update

Samsung has been constantly pushing the October 2024 security update for its older Galaxy foldable smartphones. Last week, the company pushed the latest monthly security patch for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3. Now, Samsung is rolling out the October 2024 security update for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4.

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 start getting the October 2024 security update

Talking of the Galaxy Z Fold 4, the latest update is now available in several countries globally including North America, Asia, Europe, and Africa. The new update for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 available in Asia, Africa, and Europe carries a firmware version F936BXXS8GXIC. Whereas, the update can be identified in Canada with firmware version F936WVLS3DWI1.

Besides, this month’s security patch carries a firmware version F936NKSS4GXIC for Galaxy Z Fold 4 units in South Korea. On top of that, the carried-locked variants of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 on T-Mobile and Metro PCS networks are getting this update with firmware version F936USQS6GXIC.

Whereas, the factory-unlocked units on Comcast, Metro PCS, T-Mobile, and Xfinity Mobile networks are also getting this update with firmware version F936U1UES6GXIC. In addition, the latest security update is also rolling out to Galaxy Z Flip 4 units on Verizon networks in the US with firmware version F721USQS6GXIC.

The latest monthly security update fixes over 40 security vulnerabilities

The October 2024 update for the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4 fixes over 40 security loopholes found in the previous version. The latest update comes with security fixes from both Google and Samsung. Google has reportedly patched 2 critical and 28 high-level security issues with one already fixed in the previous update.

Whereas, the other two fixes are not related to Samsung Galaxy smartphones. On top of that, Samsung has fixed 12 security vulnerabilities associated with system services and Knox. As usual, the October 2024 security update doesn’t add any new features to the two-year-old Galaxy foldables. However, it brings system security and stability to the devices.

So, if you live in the aforementioned regions, check for the new update now. You can do so by going to Settings > Software update. Next, wait for the device to scan for the latest software update. If any new update pops up, simply tap the Download and install option.
