WATCH THE VIDEO HERE Samsung has been aggressively pushing the One UI 6.1.1 update to its older Galaxy smartphones. Earlier this month, last year’s flagship Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 received the latest One UI update. To our surprise, the One UI 6.1.1 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 didn’t bring the September 2024 security patch alongside. Rather, it bundled the August 2024 security patch instead. Anyway, Samsung seems to be fixing that by rolling out a new software update. The South Korean tech giant has reportedly started rolling out a new software update to Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 that includes the latest September 2024 security patch. Folks over at SamMobile reported that the rollout started for the Galaxy Z Fold 5. In addition, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 started getting the software update with this month’s security update the following day. The September 2024 security update is rolling out to the Galaxy Z Fold 5’s international and US-unlocked variants with model numbers SM-F946B and SM-F946U1, respectively. The new software update that brings the latest monthly patch comes with a firmware version F946BXXS3DXI3. Samsung has also started rolling out the new software update with the latest security patch for Galaxy Z Flip 5 starting in many Asian, European, and African countries. The latest software update rolling out in such countries carries a firmware version F731BXXS3DXI3. Besides, both carrier-unlocked and factory-unlocked variants of the flip phone have also started getting the new update in the US. The update rolling out to carrier-unlocked variants on T-Mobile and Metro PCs network comes with firmware version F731USQS4DXI3. Whereas, the factory-unlocked variant of the last year’s flip phone carries a firmware version F731U1UES4DXI3. Worth noting that the new update for the factory-unlocked variant is available on all carriers. It should be noted that the September 2024 security update for both Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 fixes 67 security vulnerabilities that were discovered in the previous software version. Since the new update is rather small, don’t expect any new features and performance or battery life improvements. If you live in the specified regions with eligible devices, you should check Samsung’s last year’s Android flagship for the update now. To do so, go to Settings > Software update. On the Software update page, wait for the device to scan for the update. If the update pops up, make sure to tap Download and install. That’s all you have to do and your device will be updated with the September 2024 security patch. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip have started getting the September 2024 security update
