According to a new report, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 could actually offer better cameras than the Galaxy S24. The information comes from ‘kro’, though that tipster doesn’t have the best track record, so keep that in mind. It may be wise to take this info with a grain of salt.

There’s some hope the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will offer better cameras than its predecessor

He did not share any specifics, but just because he said they’ll be better, it doesn’t mean that he meant on the hardware. Perhaps he was suggesting that the performance will be better, that would make much more sense.

In any case, a well-known tipster, Ice Universe, did say a while back that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will have the same camera setup as the Galaxy Z Fold 5. That information is easily plausible due to his exceptional track record. So chances are we’ll get the same hardware yet again.

In other words, a 50-megapixel main camera (f/1.8 aperture, OIS)  will be backed by a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera (123-degree FoV), and a 10-megapixel telephoto unit (3x optical zoom). A 4-megapixel under-display camera on the main display will be included, and a 10-megapixel selfie camera on the cover display.

Samsung’s competition has improved a lot in the camera department

Considering that the (foldable) competition has boosted their camera setups, this may not be the right call for Samsung. The OnePlus Open and OPPO Find N3 have an exceptional camera setup and performance, while the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro also has a great setup.

There are several other phones with compelling cameras, and we’ll likely see more this year. Samsung needs to step up its game in order to keep up. Some hardware improvements are needed in the camera department on its foldable smartphones.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is expected to become official on July 10 in Paris. Samsung didn’t officially confirm that just yet, though. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 will launch alongside it, and the company’s very first smart ring is also expected.
