Samsung announced its new ‘Special Edition’ foldable quite recently. Following that, the phone was released for purchase on Friday, October 25. The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition actually sold out in only 10 minutes, it seems.

The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition sold out in only 10 minutes despite its price tag

Samsung managed to achieve that despite its $2,000 price tag. Just to be clear, the sale took place in South Korea, the only market this phone was announced in… at least thus far. We also do not know how many units there were on offer. There is a chance that Samsung did not really offer a lot of units.

According to a report from SammyFans, even the inventory that was meant for carriers got sold out. Samsung promised to let consumers know when it manages to get more devices in stock.

Based on initial numbers, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 were not exactly a major success for Samsung. That is not surprising considering the lack of change and innovation compared to previous models.

This device is a breath of fresh air in Samsung’s foldable lineup

The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is a breath of fresh air in Samsung’s foldable lineup, that’s for sure. It is not only considerably thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, but it also brings an improved camera setup, and less of a visible crease.

Those are all major wins for the phone. The only problem is that Samsung reportedly doesn’t plan to sell this phone in many markets. Only Korea and China will allegedly get the device. In China it will be possibly called the Samsung W25.

The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is a good sign for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, though. Samsung is expected to make some changes with that device, to be more competitive with the companies from China from the design standpoint.
