Ganduje Was Not Sacked, He Resigned – Tinubu’s Former Aide

Audu Aliyu, a former Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has stated that the credit for the recent resignation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, lies with Ganduje himself and not the President.

In a revealing interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Tuesday, Aliyu argued that Ganduje realised he had outlived his importance, hence his resignation.

He commended Ganduje’s decision as a model of accountability, adding that people must be encouraged to step aside when they are no longer needed.

He said, “Giving the President credit for Ganduje’s resignation is like expecting people to thank the President for my resignation, too.

“Ganduje wasn’t sacked, he resigned. Whether it was for health or any other reason, he recognised that he no longer belonged there and excused himself.

“We must honour that and encourage people who know they’re out of place to step aside for the sake of collective progress.”

Aliyu expressed frustration over the government’s pace in addressing urgent humanitarian needs, particularly the growing hunger crisis.

“The nation cannot grow at the President’s pace. We lose about 25 people every day to hunger, according to global statistics. That’s a national shame.

“Some of these people know they’re about to die, and they have no hope of surviving. That should be our national target: to fix that,” he said.

In closing, Aliyu urged the country’s leadership to embrace a team-oriented culture where merit, performance, and integrity guide governance.

“We are a galaxy of stars. One star shining shouldn’t stop the other. Every star should be able to watch and applaud another. That’s the culture we need,” he stated.
