Two notable absentees from the Super Eagles camp at the ongoing 2025 Unity Cup mini tournament have raised eyebrows, Soccernet.ng reports.

Getafe CF’s Chrisantus Uche and Singida Black Stars goalkeeper Amas Obasogie are missing from training sessions despite being included in Eric Chelle’s squad list.

According to insider reports reaching Soccernet.ng, Uche’s absence is due to personal issues, with sources confirming that the highly rated midfielder is working through private matters expected to be resolved before Nigeria’s international friendly against Russia on Friday, 6th June, at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

Uche has been a key figure for Getafe in La Liga, contributing four goals and six assists in 33 appearances. His performances have helped the Madrid-based side avoid relegation and have also caught the attention of Atlético Madrid and Brentford, who are reportedly monitoring the 22-year-old’s situation closely.

In contrast, goalkeeper Amas Obasogie is absent due to visa issues, making him unavailable for the Unity Cup fixtures.

His omission leaves Coach Chelle with two options between the sticks: Maduka Okoye and Stanley Nwabali, both of whom are expected to compete for the number one spot during the tournament.

While Uche’s return remains likely for the Russia clash, Obasogie’s availability remains uncertain, especially with travel complications affecting the Tanzanian-based shot-stopper.

The Super Eagles will be hoping to field a strong squad for the upcoming engagements as Chelle looks to build on their last 2-1 victory against Ghana.
