FINTECH startup, Gigbanc, is hosting Gigconnect 2025, a free one-day fun and value-packed event with networking, expert talks, and real opportunities to level up your global game. Set for Saturday, October 25, from 10 a.m., at Zone Tech’s Ruby Hall, the gathering targets remote workers, content creators, tech talents, and entrepreneurs ready to turn local skills into international paydays.
With Africa’s gig economy booming toward a $65 billion valuation by 2025, Gigconnect 2025 spotlights the tools and connections to make it happen. Highlights include two powerhouse panels, one on mastering skills for global success, covering monetisation and cross-border payments, and another on how African talents can compete for dollar gigs. A keynote speech will explore the role of technology in digital work and financial inclusion, followed by hands-on masterclasses on landing high-paying clients, personal branding, and smart investing for independent professionals.
Attendees can pitch their hustles in the 60-second Gig Hustle Challenge for cash prizes and mentorship, plus speed networking rounds to match freelancers with businesses. Fun breaks feature music, comedy entertainment, games like trivia and meme contests, and cash giveaways.
The day wraps with announcements for Gigbanc’s Global Talent Fellowship winners and an optional after-party till 6:30 p.m.
“Whether you’re scaling your freelance career, building a remote team, or networking for new opportunities, this event is where the future of work meets community and success,” a Gigbanc spokesperson said.
Gigbanc, known for its cross-border payment tools and virtual dollar cards, built the programme to support its user base of gig workers.
Habeeb Ajijola, head of marketing, emphasised the broader goal. “The fellowship isn’t just to train people; our aim is to be the catalyst that democratises global opportunities for Africans,” Ajijola said.
Fellows commit to a “multiplier effect,” using their new earnings to uplift communities, hiring collaborators or mentoring others. This aligns with Gigbanc’s mission to foster sustainable careers amid rising remote work demand.
Founded in 2022, Gigbanc has processed millions in payouts for African independents, helping them bypass forex hurdles. The fellowship and the Gigconnect event expand that support into career acceleration.
Also, the start-up launched its Global Talent Fellowship on Monday, October 20, 2025, aiming to equip 20 top African freelancers and digital creators with skills and networks to secure global gigs worth $3,000 or more monthly. The announcement comes ahead of Gigbanc’s free networking event, Gigconnect 2025, set for Saturday, October 25, in Lagos.
The 12-week fellowship programme, kicking off soon, targets young professionals in fields like design, coding, and content creation who have strong portfolios but struggle with international visibility. Participants will receive one-on-one mentorship from global industry leaders, tackle real client projects, and join a community focused on reinvesting earnings locally—such as hiring peers or launching ventures.
Paul Omoregie, Gigbanc’s CEO, said the fellowship addresses a key gap. “Africa is full of extraordinary talent. What has been missing is the bridge—the opportunity that matches global demand and the mentors who show the way,” Omoregie stated in a release. “The Gigbanc Global Talent Fellowship is that bridge.”
