The lawmaker representing Osun East Senatorial District, Senator Francis Fadahunsi, has urged Nigerians, especially residents of Osun State, to embrace farming.

Senator Fadahunsi made the call on Tuesday while speaking with journalists in Ilase-Ijesa, Osun State.

He noted that in many riverine areas, Yoruba youths were absent from farming activities, leaving Hausa farmers to dominate.

According to the senator, communities in Ife North and South have started embracing agriculture, with serious farming already ongoing.

He explained that seedlings were being distributed to farmers across his constituency as part of efforts to reduce hardship before the year ends.

The lawmaker further revealed that he personally engages in farming, stressing that food security remains the foundation for national stability and clear thinking.

Senator Fadahunsi assured that development would follow once hunger is drastically reduced.

He also stated that he has met with traditional rulers, custodians of culture, and community leaders to encourage participation in farming and other development projects.

The senator urged residents, including settlers such as Hausa farmers, Fulani herdsmen, and the Igede community, to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards.

He emphasized that political participation and agricultural involvement are key to addressing Nigeria’s present economic and social challenges.
