Google is reportedly giving Circle to Search's toolbox yet another makeover

Circle to Search has emerged as one of the most handy AI-powered features for Android users lately. First seen in the Galaxy S24 series and Pixel 8 series, Circle to Search is now available on different smartphones including the Motorola Razr 2024 lineup. It’s been several months since Google announced Circle to Search, but it seems the company isn’t done tweaking the feature’s toolbox.

Google is reportedly redesigning the Circle to Search’s toolbox

Yesterday, folks over at Android Authority reported seeing a redesigned UI for the toolbox when accessing Circle to Search. In the recent Google app APK teardown (version 15.45.43.ve.arm64 beta), the publication found a “chunkier interface.” Additionally, all the UI elements are “encased in a rounded box.”

Let’s not forget that the music search icon still sits next to the search bar in the updated toolbox. However, we expect Google to allow users to swap between the music search, translation, or Lens button.

What’s more interesting is that there’s a new “app drawer” button in place of the translate button. When you tap on it, you’ll see a sub-menu showing the Len, Translate, and Music icons. This change appears to bring back the Google Lens shortcut which the company removed last month. However, accessing Lens and the other aforementioned tools would require an extra tap.

On the bright side, this app drawer button could allow Google to add extra tools in the future. This way, the company won’t have to continue shrinking the search bar to fit in new UI elements.

Moving on, Google is apparently making changes to let you use Circle to Search in videos. However, it’s still unclear whether the feature will apply to a specific platform or videos across your device. Time will tell when we will see these changes. But one thing remains clear, Google is doing its part to make Circle to Search more useful for the users.
