Gov Abiodun emerges as chairman of southern governors’ forum

THE governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has been named chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, with Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, as his deputy.

This was revealed by the chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum and Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-olu, following the forum’s meeting today at the Presidential Lodge in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun state.

Following the meeting, which lasted more than five hours, Governor Abiodun, during his acceptance address promised not to betray the trust placed in him and his vice by their colleagues.

Governor Abiodun is replacing the former governor of Ondo State, the late Rotimi Aketedolu and he is anticipated to provide the essential leadership for the region’s growth and development.

The meeting was attended by 13 governors and three deputies. However, Rivers State Governor Similayi Fubara was not present at the event.
