Gov Bago launches Medical Insurance Package for Senior citizens

In a bid to enable retirees and senior citizens access vital medical services at no cost, the Governor of Niger state, Mohammed Umaru Bago has officially launched the Retiree Medical Insurance Package (RMIP).

He said the initiative is designed to provide essential support for retirees and senior citizens in the State.

While making this known on his Social Media platform, Special Adviser to the Governor on Digital Media and Strategy, Abdullberqy Usman Ebbo said the launch represents a significant improvement in the state’s healthcare efforts, marking a strong commitment to the well-being of the aging population.

He explained that the RMIP is designed to eliminate financial barriers to healthcare so as to enable retirees and senior citizens access vital medical services at no cost.

According to him “this comprehensive package covers treatments, medications, and consultations within an extensive network of healthcare providers in the state.”

Furthermore, he stated that the Executive Secretary, Niger State Contributory Health Agency (NiCARE), Sulayman Abu-Bakr highlighted the invaluable contributions the elders spent to the growth, development and shaping of the state.

“We want them to live their latter years with dignity and have access to essential healthcare services. This is a positive step toward a more equitable healthcare system in the State”.

He added that the gesture is one of the Governor’s administration to improve the quality of life for all residents, especially the elderly.
