Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has confirmed that he will formally defect from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress on Wednesday, November 19.

Kefas disclosed this over the weekend while inspecting ongoing renovation works at the Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo — the venue scheduled to host the defection rally.

Speaking with journalists, the governor said his decision was guided by a desire to secure the long-term interests of Taraba State.

He stated, “I will officially transition from the PDP to the APC on November 19. This movement is about the destiny and future of the people of Taraba.”

Kefas noted that arrangements had already commenced to welcome dignitaries expected at the event.

When asked if any conditions were attached to his move, the governor replied that there were none.

Members of the Taraba State Executive Council have openly endorsed the governor’s decision to dump the PDP.

Speaking on behalf of the cabinet, the Commissioner for Science and Technology, Muslim Aruwa, said all political appointees would follow the governor to his new party.

He said, “The governor is our leader. Wherever he goes, we go with him.”

Aruwa added that aligning with the federal government was critical for Taraba’s accelerated development.

“This movement is for the entire people of Taraba State, and we are with him 100 per cent,” he said.
