GOVERNOR Bala Mohammed has visited the damaged federal highway that connects Kano to Maiduguri, specifically in the area between Malori and Guskuri villages within the Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The recent heavy rainfall has caused severe damage to the highway, creating a large crater in the road that has forced drivers to seek alternative routes.

During his visit to evaluate the extent of the damage, Governor Muhammad emphasized the road’s importance as a vital link between Nigeria’s Northwest and Northeast regions.

Speaking to reporters yesterday, he called on the Federal Government to take immediate action to repair the affected road in order to improve the transportation of goods and services for the benefit of the community.

“This is a major highway, the Northeast highway, and the dual carriageways have been entirely washed away. We are appealing to the federal government for support. We will escalate this issue to Abuja through the Controller of Works,” he stated.

“If they are unable to resolve the situation, we will take steps to implement temporary or permanent solutions, similar to what we did last rainy season.”

Bauchi State has experienced significant flooding this year, resulting in extensive damage across several local government areas.
