Gov Namadi Approves Primary School To PhD Scholarship For Female Indigenes

The Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, has approved scholarships for female indigenes of the state from primary school to doctoral level.

Naijaonpoint reports that details of the scholarship showed that an indigene of the state would only pay ₦10,000 as school fees for an academic session in the state-owned university and receive a scholarship of ₦60,000 every session.

Female indigenes are on free scholarship from primary to PhD level, regardless of the course of study, and still receive a scholarship of ₦60,000 annually.

The State’s Commissioner for Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Isa Yusuf Chamo, said the initiative would have a lasting impact on the lives of female students.

Professor Chamo stated that Governor Namadi through the scholarship programme has shown commitment to empowering women to take control of their lives.

“We’re confident that this programme will have a lasting impact on the lives of our female students.

“This is a significant step towards promoting gender equality and empowering women through education. By providing free education to female indigenes, the Jigawa State Government is empowering women to take control of their lives, make informed decisions, and contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities,” he said

On his part, former Comptroller of Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, commended the Governor for the initiative.

“Jigawa State Governor is the type of leader Africans are looking for. An indigene of the state will only pay N10,000 as school fees for an academic session in the state-owned university and receive a scholarship of N60,000 every session despite paying only N10,000 as school fees. Female indigenes can attend school for free, from primary to PhD level, regardless of the course of study, and still receive a scholarship of N60,000 annually,” he said.
