Gov Okpebholo Suspends Edo Agency’s Boss Indefinitely

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has suspended the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Edo State Flood, Erosion, and Watershed Management Agency (FEWMA), Mr. Ahmed Musa Momoh, over alleged insubordination.

Naijaonpoint reports that the suspension, announced in a press statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, takes immediate effect.

“The Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the suspension of the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of Edo State Flood, Erosion and Watershed Management Agency (FEWMA), Mr. Ahmed Musa Momoh, effective immediately,” the statement read.

Mr. Momoh has been instructed to hand over all government properties in his possession to the most senior public servant in the agency and proceed on immediate leave of absence pending further directives from Governor Okpebholo.

Separately, the Edo State Ministry of Local Government, Community, and Chieftaincy Affairs announced the suspension of the planned turbaning ceremony and appointment of Chiefs and Village Heads in South Ibie Kingdom.

The decision followed concerns over potential security threats surrounding the event, which had been scheduled for Saturday, January 25, 2025, in Iyakpi, South Ibie.

The installation of new Chiefs and Clan Heads was to be conducted by Umoru Inusa Umoru, the purported Aidenogie of South Ibie.

The ministry’s communication stated: “In light of the security threats at the disposal of the Ministry of Local Government, Community, and Chieftaincy Affairs, the proposed Turbaning Ceremony and the appointment of Chiefs and Village Heads by Umoru Inusa Umoru are hereby put on hold.

“Any other acts planned by Umoru in his capacity as the purported Aidenogie of South Ibie must be halted immediately, pending clearance from the appropriate authorities.”

Despite these directives, Mr. Momoh allegedly flouted the government’s order by taking actions deemed capable of destabilizing the peace in the South Ibie community.

His actions reportedly prompted his suspension and further reinforced the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and order in the state.
