Governor Fubara crowned 2024 public office holder of the year

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has named Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara as its 2024 Public Office Holder of the Year.

HURIWA commended Governor Fubara for standing firm in the face of political opposition, including his highly publicized clashes with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

The group described Fubara as a symbol of resilience and strategic governance, whose efforts have maintained stability in Rivers State despite attempts to destabilize his administration.

The association singled out Fubara’s ability to counter the political manoeuvres of his predecessor, Wike. It criticized what it called a “conspiratorial alliance” between political adversaries and the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Despite these challenges, HURIWA stated that Fubara’s administration has remained steadfast in its mission to uplift the state.

“Despite the IGP’s alleged complicity and the coordinated efforts of political attackers, the good people of Rivers State have stood firmly behind Governor Fubara.

“This support stems from his genuine commitment to the welfare and progress of the state,” HURIWA stated.

The association noted the transformative initiatives under Fubara’s leadership, including infrastructural development, youth empowerment, and socio-economic growth.

It said projects such as improving educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and transportation networks have significantly enhanced the quality of life for Rivers State residents.

HURIWA stated that Governor Fubara’s administration has also launched skill acquisition programs, vocational training centres, and scholarship schemes, providing thousands of young people with opportunities to thrive.

These efforts, according to HURIWA, have been instrumental in addressing youth unemployment and fostering sustainable growth.
HURIWA praised Fubara’s resilience in the face of adversities, noting his ability to maintain focus and deliver results despite political distractions.

“Governor Fubara’s strength as a leader is evident in his unwavering dedication to the people of Rivers State,” the group further stated.

HURIWA urged Governor Fubara to sustain transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in governance, adding that such principles are vital for continued good governance and inclusive development in Rivers State.
