Governor Fubara Presented 2025 Budget To Association Of Friends – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, of disobeying court rulings concerning the state’s House of Assembly.

The Publicity Secretary of APC, Rivers State Chapter, Chibike Ikenga, said the presentation of the state’s 2024 budget to Victor Oko-Jumbo-led House and subsequent signing was against court rulings on the matter.

In an interview with News Central on Sunday, Ikenga stated that Governor Fubara was trending on the path of illegality.

“I speak for the River States All Progressives Congress and therefore I shall continue to do so. It is illegality upon illegality from River State government in most of their actions, if not all. More so this government has a reputation for disobedience to court orders, a reputation for working against the laid down principles of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which in the first place created the office of the government, whether it is the executive, the legislator and the judiciary in River State.

“So it is a known fact we have conversed it elaborately on all platforms, to the fact that government of River State government under Governor Sim Fubara continuing to tread on the path of illegality will create tension will drive away development and we continue to deepen disagreements and will not encourage integration in our state,” he said.

Speaking on the 2025 budget, Rivers APC spokesman, Ikenga, said Governor Fubara disobeyed a High Court and an Appeal Court ruling that recognized Martins Amaewhule-led House.

“They are facts that he presented to an association of friends you recall that Justice Omotsho about January and the Court of Appeal had at different times mandated the River state government, under Governor Sim Fubara, to make representation of the budget of 2025 to the House of Assembly only led Rt Hon. Martins Amaewhule and the only recognized House of Assembly a River State, but the government had continued to disobey such positions from the High Courts to the Appellate Courts and we believe that they will also disobey Supreme Court decisions,” he added.
