Akwa Ibom Govt has issued an Update on a New Conditional Cash Grant Website
The Akwa Ibom State Government is urging the public to be cautious and not fall for a fake message currently circulating online. The message claims to offer a conditional cash grant supposedly from the state government, but it’s a scam.
According to the government, the misleading post includes a suspicious link: “grant.akwaibom.claim-itz.online”, and even uses the image of the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs along with official-looking state symbols to appear legit.
In a press release dated July 30, 2025, the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umanah, made it clear that the message is completely false and should not be trusted. “The message, which includes a fraudulent link, is false, misleading, and a scam,” he said. He also warned residents not to click the link or enter their personal information on the site.
The state government emphasized that it does not operate any cash grant program through unofficial websites or unknown third-party platforms. All legitimate announcements or social welfare updates will only come through verified state government channels, such as their official website or social media pages.
They also urged everyone in the state to stay alert, especially now that online scams are becoming more common across Nigeria, with fraudsters constantly targeting unsuspecting people.
