Amid the additional delay for Grand Theft Auto 6, there’s been rampant speculation about every detail of the footage we’ve seen so far. But more importantly, a ton of people are still playing GTA Online, and continuing the speculation train in-game.
Spotted over on Reddit, players have discovered a new feature that could spill over into Grand Theft Auto 6. While everyone is eagerly awaiting more concrete info on the gargantuan sequel, this discovery seems entirely plausible for a current-generation Grand Theft Auto game.
GTA 6 Could Feature More Accessible Buildings
Walk Directly Into Them Without Loading
In a fascinating find, it looks like GTA Online is testing new building types where you can walk around the property without loading screens. It would be a massive quality-of-life feature, not only for GTA Online but also for GTA 6 if there were more buildings you could seamlessly walk into withoutloading screens.
While many GTA games have offered interiors for a while (especially when it comes to smaller single-room shops), the idea of navigating a completely seamless world with no loading screens isn’t always a reality, even with the technology we have available today. Maybe GTA 6 will wow us in that respect, and that’s part of the reason why it’s taken so long.
GTA Online May Have Been Testing New Features For A While
There’s A Lot To Test
As players point out in the Reddit thread, GTA Online has been a place where Rockstar can test out new features for quite some time. While much of it is speculation, Rockstar can patch in and out new mechanics quickly, many of which pan out and serve as an iterative design for GTA Online itself.
For instance, GTA Online eventually added a phone app and a more straightforward form of fast travel, which are seen as huge quality-of-life improvements within the confines of GTA Online. Rockstar can easily review the reception and adjust their work on GTA 6 accordingly, knowing that the hard part of figuring out how it all works is complete. Naturally, there’s going to be some pivoting with the GTA 6 engine, but it’s a start.
With that said, it’s also likely a test bed for Grand Theft Auto 6, which will be a massive undertaking. If the teams are working together in tandem, progress on GTA 6 could go much more smoothly in development.
