Grand Theft Auto 6 players have been on high alert lately with possible announcements preceding the November 6 Take-Two call, but one major distraction keeping them busy has been the recent firings of Rockstar employees.

In response to union-busting allegations against Rockstar after dozens of employees were laid off in recent weeks, the studio claims that the firings were a result of employees “leaking company secrets” and had nothing to do with attempts at unionizing. If that’s the case, GTA 6 fans such as TheRealLuan are asking, “Where’s the info?”

Thus far, the exact nature of these reported leaks has yet to be revealed, but in a Bloomberg report, Jason Schreier states that “they are referring to people talking about work in a union Discord, not big leaks about GTA 6.”

Leaking Company Secrets Is A Serious Accusation, But So Is Union-Busting

Rockstar’s supposed explanation for firing dozens of employees earlier this year being related to leaking company secrets is a little too convenient for many GTA 6 fans (via Reddit), many of whom aren’t buying it. Rockstar employees leaking secrets is a huge problem, but on the flip side, Rockstar stands accused of union busting, an accusation they clearly can’t ignore. Take-Two immediately denied any union-busting accusations, stating that the firings were a result of “gross misconduct.”

When GTA 6 fans hear “leaks,” they automatically assume it has to mean GTA 6 leaks, but as Pinkman505 points out, “Rockstar employees can leak stuff other [than] GTA 6.” As such, while it’s easy to argue that leaked information would have surfaced at this point if this claim were true, it’s possible Rockstar and Take-Two have grounds for letting the developers go. Ultimately, it’s the company’s word against the fired employees, and there’s likely a legal fight down the road.

Players Suspect Union Busting Cover-Up After Rockstar Doubles Down

Ultimately, as Schreier points out, this is inevitably going to end up in court at some point in the future, and it’s highly unlikely that any GTA 6 information will surface in the process. As this is a case of the company’s word over the workers’, many players are siding with the fired employees, such as junttiana, who wants to know “how come no one has heard of them.”

Rockstar’s explanation for its firing of these employees isn’t exactly believable because it is quite vague, and if they expect players to understand their rationale, more details are going to be necessary over the nature of these firings. While the leaks don’t necessarily have to be huge GTA 6 gameplay secrets or something along those lines, the information could have been leaked because employees were attempting to unionize and it was vital to the process.
