Content creator Folorunsho Olayinka, popularly known as Finest, has revealed that the late comedian Adetola Samad, also called Sanku, died in a loaned Lexus SUV, which he had yet to fully pay for.

Finest, who claimed to have stood as guarantor for the comedian in the transaction, said the vehicle, a 2012 model Lexus RX 350 SUV, was bought from an Ilorin-based car dealer for ₦25.4 million, but had not been fully paid for at the time of Sanku’s death.

Speaking during a TikTok livestream on Monday, Finest disclosed that Sanku had only paid ₦7 million upfront at the time of purchase from JJ Motors Empire and Services Limited, as reflected in a receipt dated June 5, 2025.

He explained that the late comedian continued paying in instalments until he had covered ₦12.28m, leaving an outstanding balance of over ₦13m.

“I was only a guarantor, it was because the car dealer knew me. I only helped him. I wasn’t the one who told him to come to Ilorin; he was the one who requested a driver, which I provided for him,” Finest said.

“So what will be my gain in ordering that the person who owed about ₦13m, for whom I stood as guarantor, be killed? What will be my gain? I don’t even know the driver,” he added, while insisting he had no reason to harm Sanku.

Car Was Meant To Be Exchanged – Friend Claims

However, a close friend of the late comedian, who asked not to be named, disputed parts of Finest’s account.

The friend alleged that Sanku was under pressure to return the Lexus SUV in exchange for a Nigerian-used Toyota Venza, as he was unable to complete the balance.

In a WhatsApp voice note made available to The PUNCH on Tuesday, the late comedian was heard lamenting that he had been repeatedly asked to return the SUV for a cheaper option.

According to the friend, Sanku’s uncle, a policeman in Osogbo, advised him against returning the car, warning that the dealer might trick him into surrendering the vehicle without providing the agreed replacement.

Finest said he personally sent his siblings and colleagues to the accident scene and hospital to provide support, adding that he also funded treatment for those injured.

“The late Sanku is not someone I would be leaking his secrets to the public, even this one I said, it was because I was fingered in the cause of his death. I have all the voice notes of him appreciating me for being his guarantor,” he noted.

Naijaonpoint recalls that Sanku tragically died on September 2, 2025, in a fatal crash along Ogbomoso Road, Oyo State.

Actor Yemi Elesho later confirmed his death on social media.

The accident sparked controversy after it emerged that the SUV was still under finance.

Just three months before his death, Sanku had proudly flaunted the Lexus SUV on his TikTok page. On June 6, 2025, he posted photographs of the car with the caption: “Alhamdullilah for life, congratulations Adetola,” tagging Finest in the celebratory post.

But the vehicle that was supposed to be a symbol of achievement has now become central to a bitter controversy surrounding his untimely death.
