After his RICO trial, Gunna faced backlash as many believed he snitched on YSL boss Young Thug. In a recent interview, he thanked his diehard fans for sticking by his side.
“It’s one of the best feelings in the world, that I’ll never forget. I never take it for granted. I can just go back to that time and be like, ‘Man, my fans really came through for me.’ It was about me but it was really about them showing up for me. I got diehard fans, for sure,” he told will.i.am who asked him about life after his release from jail.
Gunna entered an Alford plea in the YSL RICO case and received a five-year sentence, with one year served and the remaining four suspended, along with 500 hours of community service.
He did not cooperate with the feds or testify against Young Thug but Thugger has still publicly called him a “rat” and denounced him.
He continued, “First, thank you for being with me. And never give up. Don’t stop, especially when they want you to stop. Really keep going then. That’s when you really, really push. Pray until something happens. A lot of things will pull you down or get it your way… when you get over the hump, you feel stronger.”
