Getafe coach Jose Bordalas has praised Super Eagles snub Christantus Uche after his brace of assists in their 4-0 win at Valladolid on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Uche has been brilliant for Getafe since making his €500k transfer from lower league club Ceuta last summer. The Nigerian striker has provided three goals and five assists in 28 La Liga appearances this season.

Two of his five assists came on Sunday against Valladolid, as he set up the first two goals for Getafe. That win took them up to 11th in La Liga.

After the game, Bordalas, who has also coached other Spanish teams like Valencia, Alaves and Elche has praised Uche.

“Uche is a kid who hadn’t played professional football, who had been playing as a central midfielder, and we had to adapt him as a striker in the first league game. And, well, from then on, he’s been playing closer to a striker than a central midfielder,” Bordalas said, per futbol fantasy.

“We’ve been explaining to him that it’s a different position, that he had to be dynamic, play more facing forward, and he’s been understanding it, and has been growing, obviously, as a footballer.”

Christantus Uche could break into the Super Eagles soon

Christantus Uche has attracted a lot of attention with his impressive performances in recent weeks. Premier League clubs like Chelsea have been linked with the Nigerian midfielder already, and he might even be on the move by the summer.

At international level, he was named in Eric Chelle’s squad for the last FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Rwanda, but he did not make the final cut.

However, if Uche continues to improve, it will only be a matter of time before he gets a first call-up and becomes a regular for Nigeria.
