Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has mourned the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement signed by NIDCOM spokesperson, Gabriel Odu on Monday, July 14, made available to Naijaonpoint, Dabiri-Erewa said the country has lost a man who served with discipline and was deeply committed to Nigeria.

The NiDCOM chairperson sent her condolences to the Buhari family, the people and government of Katsina State, and Nigerians across the country and in the Diaspora.

She described his death as a heavy loss to a nation he served for many years.

Dabiri-Erewa remembered how Buhari worked to improve Nigeria’s image internationally and build stronger ties with other nations.

She said that his support for the creation of NiDCOM in 2019 was a clear sign of his interest in seeing Nigerians abroad contribute to national development.

She urged Nigerians everywhere to continue living with values the late President stood for, such as patriotism, honesty, and putting the country first.

“President Buhari’s support for the establishment of NiDCOM in 2019 demonstrated his deep appreciation for the Nigerian Diaspora and his belief in their capacity to contribute meaningfully to the nation,” she said.

She also asked God to comfort the former president’s family and give them strength in this period of mourning.
