Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has claimed that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, won the 2023 presidential election.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Tonight on Monday, Lawal stated that the facts available to him indicated that President Bola Tinubu did not win the election that brought him into office.
Naijaonpoint reports that Lawal claimed, “The result available to me at that time showed he didn’t win the election.”

The former SGF explained that his team monitored the polls, collected data, and tracked results from the field, alleging that some of the figures were altered.
He further stated, “We monitored the election, collected data, and monitored the results from the fields. Some of the results were altered.”
The former SGF, when asked about his disagreement with the president, Lawal said Tinubu had offended him, not the other way round.
He stated, “The problem with Bola Tinubu is that he thinks I’m the one that offended him. I didn’t offend him; he offended me. He is full of himself and thinks that he is now the so-called president.”
He further described the president as arrogant, adding, “He has an arrogance that belies definitions.”
