“He is desperate for relevance” – Northwest youth group blasts El-Rufai over remarks on Tinubu’s govt

Mallam Nasir El Rufai

A youth coalition from the northwest has criticised former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai over his recent comments on President Bola Tinubu’s administration, accusing him of seeking undue relevance.

The group, under the aegis of the Northwest Youth Front, said El-Rufai’s remarks were not only “unpatriotic” but also “self-serving and hypocritical”.

Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday in Kano, the group’s coordinator, Abdulrashid Garba, said El-Rufai had no moral ground to criticise the Tinubu-led administration given his “controversial tenure” as governor and “divisive role” during the 2023 elections.

Garba said: “El-Rufai is desperate for political relevance and is only attacking President Tinubu’s government because he was not given a position.

“He should focus on answering questions surrounding his administration in Kaduna, especially the debts and insecurity he left behind.”

The group further called on Nigerians to be wary of politicians who they said contributed to the country’s current challenges but now present themselves as critics.
