The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has described the comments of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on the Rivers State by-election as reckless and a call to anarchy.

Speaking in an interview on Arise News, Morka stated that Atiku was angry because of his party’s performance during the election.

He dismissed Atiku’s claim that the election represented a “travesty of democracy,” insisting his words carried no weight.

Morka said, “It doesn’t hold any water because it’s simply a call to anarchy by a former vice president who is sulking, whose party showed nothing in that election, was a no-show, didn’t perform, didn’t call out their members because they don’t have any members in that state.”

He noted that Atiku’s words should not be taken seriously by the people of Rivers State.

“We have the likes of Atiku Abubakar and some opposition leaders who’d rather just dismiss everything and call for anarchy. But the good people of Rivers State know better. They voted, they voted massively for our party. They will not heed the incendiary comments of the former vice president because he is not a citizen of Rivers State. He did not vote in that election. He cannot dictate to the people of Rivers State how they vote,” Morka said.

Morka further argued that Atiku’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was “a no-show” in the by-election, stressing that the party lacked real grassroots presence in Rivers and across the participating states.

“When he calls for people to rise up and fight, the people of Rivers State, we trust them to ignore such an irresponsible call because it is not in their interest. The people of Rivers State are the best judges of their own best interest. Atiku Abubakar’s opinion is absolutely irrelevant.” Morka added.

The APC maintains that its victory at the polls was legitimate and a reflection of the will of the electorate in Rivers State.
