A former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal has spoken on his current relationship with Nigeria’s president, Bola Tinubu.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Lawal said his relationship with Tinubu was severed some years ago.
When asked if he was still friends with President Tinubu, Lawal responded, “Yes, we are friends. We’ve not had a conference to dissolve it. We have to meet to dissolve it.
The SGF was also asked why he has been a strong critic of the president, especially on television, the former SGF said, “Yes, I should. You should be in a position to always tell your friends the truth. On television, if he doesn’t listen individual.
Speaking further on his relationship with the president, Lawal noted the last time he spoke to Tinubu was in July 2022.
“Part of our problem when it started, he called one of our friends to bring a dictionary to read what a friend means.
“The problem with Bola Tinubu is that he thinks I’m the one that offended him; I did not offend him, he offended me and he is full of himself,” Lawal stated.
