The Amanyanabo of Torusarama Piri in Degema Local Government Area, Asari Dokubo has vowed to support President Bola Tinubu in his 2027 re-election bid.
Dokubo made the vow to mobilise massive support for the president alongside the Rivers State Elders Council during a visit by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to his palace.
Speaking during the visit which was themed “thank you tour” by Wike, the former militant leader assured the alignment with the “Renewed Hope Family” initiative led by the Minister.
Explaining his resolve to support the president, Dokubo said Tinubu stood by him during his most difficult times.
Noting that he was committed to appreciating the president for a long-standing relationship, Dokubo it is his time to reciprocate Tinubu’s goodwill towards him.
His words, “Everything that is going to happen, I will be with you in making sure that my friend, the President, succeeds.
“Everything that I am capable of doing, I will do to make sure that he succeeds.
“I was not a traditional ruler when we met in 1992. I never thought I would become what I am today. He stood by me in my most difficult period, and now it is my turn to stand by him,” Dokubo stated.
Also speaking, Wike said his visit to the various Local Government Areas of the state is appreciated by the people and their leaders for the support rendered to him and the president in the 2023 general election.
Wishing them a happy and prosperous New Year, the minister reaffirmed that while traditional leaders are expected to stay away from politics, his relationship with Dokubo transcends the political ecosystem.
“You are my friend, and there is no way I would come to your kingdom without greeting you and wishing you a happy new year.
“Here, we have shut the door. No other person other than Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Just follow our steps and the right thing will be done,” Wike said.
He also assured the people that every mistake made in the 2023 governorship election in Rivers State would be corrected.
“This is the only state where the two major political parties are working together to return Tinubu in 2027.
“That is why we are no longer talking about party politics but about renewed hope,” he added.
