Since joining from Rotherham United in 2019, Ajayi became a mainstay in West Brom’s backline, contributing 13 goals — some of them memorable strikes in the Premier League, including against Liverpool at Anfield and a fierce header in a derby clash with Wolves. Meanwhile, the club has offered new deals to three promising forwards of Nigerian descent at academy level: Eseosa Sule, Dan Chimeziri, and Divine Onyemachi. Sule, previously on Celtic’s books, made his senior debut last season, coming on as a late substitute in the Carabao Cup against Fleetwood.
The 31-year-old centre-back will officially depart The Hawthorns when his contract expires on June 30, bringing down the curtain on a spell that saw him make 177 appearances for the Baggies — 147 of those as a starter.
